      Time 11 :00 AM - 1:00 PM

Ideal for actors who work at night!

*Each class is divided into acting exercises followed by scene work. -Through improvisation games you will learn how to connect with your partner in a very short time.-You will understand scene breakdown and script analysis.
-Learn a series of creative tools, to build your characters.
-Everyone works in groups and individually (one-to-one with Ika) in this class.
-Your craft is to be seen on camera so let's work with it.

What separates a “nice” performance from an outstanding one? Some actors sound natural and OK,  but they look flat or their acting isn’t  vivid on the screen. Other actors are too over the top, self conscious, not organic or out of sorts. Where is YOUR balance point? You will find out, we will record your performance and playback, so that you can critique yourself.

Come to learn the exercises YOU need to practice, in order to propel your acting career.

You are not going to just be sitting in class, you are going to be acting to the Nth degree!

Classes are kept small so the workshop can remain intimate.

Some performers need deep creative and intense processes.

Some performers need artistic adjustments and tough love.

Some performers need an intuitive/careful healing process to recover their confidence from unjust criticism.

Some performers need to discover themselves, -their uniqueness - learn what acting is really about and stop imitating, pretending or copying others.

Others only need some tuning up and more practice.

A Super-Actor is always studying, practicing and creating new roles!

      About our Instructor:

Ika Santamaria was born in Colombia. She trained as an actor at the renowned Teatro Libre of Bogota from 1991 to 1994. In 1995, She moved to New York City where she studied screenwriting and cinema at New York University.  Since then, Ika has worn many hats as a director, producer, playwright and actor. She travels and performs internationally.  Ika wrote the screenplay, for  "Equal Strength" then directed and edited the feature film which has won the Mission Award at the Women's International Film Festival, Best film and Best Audience Award at L-Dub Film Festival, and has been nominated for the Best Film at Woman in the Arts Miami.

Her short film "Flea Market Finish Line" was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, this year, and received many more awards here in the United States.

      Words From the Students:

" Ika Santamaria is amongst the best acting coaches I've ever had. The Workshop I took with her has given me the tools to work on my character by discovering different layers and incorporating them in an organic way. She creates a safe enviroment for an actor and takes you to different levels while giving you the confidence to take risks that lead to further discovery. Thanks for the chance to grow as an actor." Isabel Bacigalupo

"Ika is a true passionate, a visionary and a "Determinator". She will pull the best out of you and will motivate you to overcome any challenge. Her directions in Equal Strength took me to another level". Noa Lindberg (Eva, Equal Strength)

“I have known Ika first as an Acting Coach and then as a Director while working on Equal Strength.  She is a very well trained Actress and has great insight into the human condition, which makes her an exceptional Coach.  Ika understands the process from both the Actor's and the Director's perspective, making it easy for her cast to give their best performance.  Her vision and talent as a storyteller are evident in her work as Director and make the acting experience a very satisfying endeavor for the actors. Ika's enthusiasm and professionalism make the entire production experience very enjoyable for everyone involved.” Nelly Palmer (Maggie, Equal Strength)

"Ika has the gift of perception.  Not many artists have this VERY NEEDED talent to inspire knowledge. As a colleague, and forever her student, I highly recommend her classes." Antonio Feijoo.  Filmmaker and founder of The Actor's House

Ika is dedicated, unafraid to explore, a risk taker. Ika infuses her work with love and passion, which fuels my inspiration as an actor” Jaiir Bula

“Ika, as my teacher you taught me to be an actor, ... as my director, you made me  become one!!!. Thank you, I love you” Danilo Zamora

"I started acting a few years ago, Ika was my first instructor and director, she gave me the confidence and the guidance I needed to be able to play the main character in her short film Flea Market Finish Line, which went on to win many awards and was accepted at the Cannes Film Festival this year. I am very grateful to know Ika and to learn from her". Aylin Silva

“Ika taught me how to do one of the most important things that an actor needs - Just do it and don’t judge yourself” Ar Jey

“Ika is an incredibly creative director who has a passion and aura about her that is contagious...She has the ability to bring out these amazing characters from us actors; characters we were unaware even existed within us.  She is a hands-on director that has a vision and knows how to not only bring out the best quality acting, but keep us actors on track as well.  Her dedication surpasses anything I have ever witnessed.  Her coaching style is creative and efficient.  Ika is a star in her own right, bringing a new perspective to the acting world that will quickly take us all by storm.”  Robyn Cohen (Tucker, Equal Strength)

"Not only Ika's energy and passion for the craft of filmmaking surrounds the student leaving her/him craving for more, but her teaching methods are made for the ones  willing to explore without fear!" Claudio Marcotulli

"During the Filming of the movie Equal Strength our Director Ika Santamaria showed us her great expertise and knowledge level in filmmaking and acting. On set she played many roles showing her magnificent ability to multitask. I'm glad I was able to work with such a professional and experienced individual" Eoret Silva

"Ika has been a great teacher to me. She's taught me how to bring out the naturality of a character, through her techniques. I admire her continued work ethic and success. She is the definition of using your genius and talent in your work to achieve greatness.” Sasha Marina

"I was blocked and we all know, actors cannot be blocked. It has been something I had been struggling with for years. Ika was able to see it right away and ease it out, slowly, safely and surely. Having been to several acting teachers in the area, I've experienced some scary situations where actors were going into areas too quickly, too soon resulting in intense, unsafe mental moments. Ika is not like that. Yes, she worked hard on me but let me develop at my own pace instead of forcing it upon her timeline.  She has a unique combination of compassion, knowledge and intuition that brings forth only the very best of her students. I look forward to studying with her once again."  Raquel Burgos

"If I could describe Ika´s coaching in one word, it would be ¨LAYERS.¨ Ika enforces the use of emotions to enrich a performance. She guides you to feel a character, to visualize him/her, and then to build contrast. Everything in the vein of crafting a well-rounded character with multiple layers that enhances you as an actor. " - Renier
