Forgotten Story of WWII - Author Discussion and Book Signing

Presented by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Florida International University (OLLI at FIU) and the Brockway Memorial Library in Miami Shores, this event is sure to be educational and entertaining. Based on Sanger’s book, Without Warning, this multimedia presentation is sure to capture the attention of the audience.  Without Warning tells the story of Athenia, a British passenger ship sunk hours after England and Germany declared war on September 3, 1939.  The recollections of Sanger’s grandmother, who survived the sinking, became the inspiration for his novel, which is based on actual people and events including five other survivors who were interviewed. Join Thomas C. Sanger as he shares his inspiration for the book, as well as the research that went into it.  A writer for most of his adult life, Sanger served as an information specialist during a tour of duty in Vietnam.  He has worked as a reporter for the Associated Press and KABC radio in Los Angeles and wrote television documentary scripts for the Australian Broadcasting Corp., in Sydney Australia.  Sanger will be available for book signings after the event. This event is FREE and open to the public; however, space is limited.  Please RSVP in advance.
