ARE YOU?• Creative but not sure where to start? • Lost for new ideas or stuck in a rut? • Not sure how to develop a meaningful series? • Intimidated by the blank canvas (or page?) Concept to Creation is a multiple session workshop taught by BaCA's Artist in Residence, Andrea Huffman, to assist artists to tap into their creative process. Each week Creative exercises such as developing personal symbols, concept mapping, and exploring personal histories provide the means to discover their unique artistic style, and imagery. Students will work in a sketchbook along with other media of the student’s choosing. This class is geared toward artists of all levels, working in any medium. WORKSHOP TOPICS: Session 1 (April 02): Developing personal / abstract symbols; confronting the blank: how to not start with a blank canvas. Session 2 (April 16): Abstraction from realism.... How far to alter reality Session 3 (April 30): Personal archaeology: digging for ideas Session 4 (May 14): Figure/ ground exploration: how to alter the negative and positive space for a dynamic composition.
